How was my evening?

Fine, thank you. )

I even got autographs.

Esther, I thank you again, very dearly.

[Private to Sarah and Angelo]

I apologize if this seems to either of you like an odd request, but I have found myself in a bit of a predicament. I have a date an engagement with a friend this Saturday night, but my normal babysitter seems taken up with the flu. I realize this is short notice but if either/both of you happen to be free and willing that night, I would appreciate someone caring for Hendrix for a few hours.

You have no cause to feel troubled to assist, or troubled if you cannot assist.

Thank you.

Hendrix's vocabulary has extended from -Aunt, Nemo, Puppy, Rainbow, and Mine- to now include Cheese, Juice, and Carrot. His favorite song to sing is 'Down By the Bay' by Raffi.

I have started looking into colleges for him.

Angelo, if you ever see me trying to buy the really expensive jam, please stop me. The cashier nearly rang it up this time.

I cannot afford my character's tastes.

I am curious to know the extent to which people find themselves actually speaking in the manner of their characters. That is, whether or not they find themselves using an accent, or particular lingo that is indicative of their character. And perhaps how they counteract or excuse the verbal changes to their peers. For instance, how to convince your co-workers you aren't speaking with a British accent because you are drunk.

I think there are a lot of professions where people have dual reasons to be glad to get the holidays off. Nursing, for example. I am glad to have the Fourth of July off because I get to spend it with the baby. I am also glad to have off so I don’t have to deal with the aftermath. Whenever there is a holiday the hospital gets rather busier. Fourth of July brings in more burn-related injuries. I get the feeling firefighters would nod reading that. St. Patrick’s Day actually brings in more broken noses/hands than just about any other time of year unless there is a sports event. It’s impossible to tell what Halloween will bring. One year there was a man who attempted to fake-hang himself as a prank and nearly forgot the ‘fake’ part.

Valentine’s Day has the weirdest injuries of all, but I won’t go into that.

Christmas brings in a lot of sad ones, like attempted ODs and sometimes successful ones. Easter brings in… rabbit bites. Mostly on children. We had a Kwanzaa related injury once. Their clothes got set on fire. Sometimes we get that for Hanukkah as well.

But, yes. I have the Fourth of July off. I will probably sleep, then the baby will wake up. Then the baby will sleep and I will watch the History Channel and drink Vanilla Coke. If he is awake for the fireworks we might watch some. On tv.

For the real experience.

I do believe you've splashed Sulfuric acid on the Chippendale table.
Personally, I prefer to use Lemon Pledge. )
